Senate Bill 12: Information for Hereford ISD Families
During the 89th Texas Legislative Session, lawmakers passed Senate Bill 12 (SB 12), which went into effect September 1, 2025. The law includes several new requirements for Texas public schools and expands provisions related to parental rights and involvement in their child’s education.
As part of SB 12, the Texas Education Agency developed information for families outlining parental rights and options in areas such as instructional materials, health-related services, student records, courses of study, special programs and other aspects of a student’s education. School districts are required to provide this information to families and make it available on their district website. (Texas Education Agency)
